The free exchange library “Take a book – bring a book” in the Umbertino district celebrates its three-year anniversary
(via Castelfidardo 1). The number of accesses grows every year and in 2023 there were 250 users. The service works thanks to volunteer members who guarantee openings on Tuesdays (10-12 and 16-18.30) and Fridays (16-18.30). The service is open to everyone, even those who are not members of the Prospezia Ciassa Brin association, anyone can take up to a maximum of three books each time. On the first visit you can take a book even without exchanging it for those who don’t have books to leave.

“With our commitment and our presence in the neighborhood we have become a point of reference for authors from La Spezia and beyond, who we host to present their books, always free of charge. All our activities are aimed at valorising and understanding this historic neighborhood of which Piazza Brin is the beating heart, one of the most beautiful squares in the city with its Art Nouveau buildings and its popular vocation – say the association -. Despite the problems that exist here, as in other parts of the city, this still remains one of the liveliest and most beautiful neighborhoods in La Spezia with a history that few neighborhoods have.”
