After the successes of the first two editions, the National Festival of Musical High Schools returns which saw the “Tommaso Stigliani” Musical High School of Matera, overall winner in the previous edition. The festival, organized by the IIS “Bragaglia” of Frosinone, in collaboration with Radio MIA, sees the collaboration and participation of authoritative figures in the field of music. It is aimed at students of musical high schools in the national territory, who are asked to create audio-video files of the jazz, pop or classical repertoire in groups, ensembles, orchestras and of original works and compositions. The jury of this edition will be composed of Marco Attura, Sandro di Stefano, Fabio Ferri, Felice Fulco, Stefano Lentini, Mauro Gizzi, Azzurra Mottolese, Marco Toro. To date, many music high schools from all over Italy have participated with prestigious performances, broadcast and commented every day on Radio MIA, the Festival radio, while the best performed live during the final days, held at the Auditorium D .Paris of Frosinone which will also host the 2024 final, scheduled for 11 May.
This year the experience becomes an itinerant reality, given that the city of Matera (Liceo “Stigliani” winner in the last edition) has made itself available to welcome the Festival in its territory: on 4 May 2024, starting from 5 pm :00, in the “Gervasio” Auditorium all the participating high schools will be presented with a summary of their songs, awaiting the award ceremony of the winners in Frosinone.
Rosanna Papapietro, the head teacher of the “Stigliani”, together with her students and teachers of the Musical and of the entire institute, declares herself ready and enthusiastic to host the presentation performances of the songs in competition, in Matera, on May 4th. Thus the happiness and emotion for the prestigious award received last year are renewed. As already stated: “Music is a sublime art that requires time and care. Behind these performances there are hours and hours of exercises. The school, with all the musical high schools that will participate in the contest, demonstrates that the art of sound broadens everyone’s mind and unites everyone, this time with the scenario of SASSI, a World Heritage Site, in the European Capital of Culture 2019. Music it is also emotions, the same ones on which the students of the other courses of the “Stigliani” high school are also freely reflecting and processing thoughts, an institute in which in addition to Music, there are also Linguistics, Human Sciences and Economic-Social”.
A notable success for the “Stigliani” high school and for the area, and a recognition of the importance of musical and cultural education in Italian high schools. Representatives from some high schools involved in the festival will participate in the event, in the institutional presence of the Honorable Paola Frassinetti, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Education and Merit.
