The “ordinary Ciellino” Mario Lo Pinto with his book in Legnano

Monday 6 May 2024, at 9.00 pm in the Caironi Hall of Villa Jucker in Legnano

Legnano – The second period of the life of Mario Lo Pintosummarized in the title which takes inspiration from the Gospel of Luke (“A good measure will be poured into your lap pressed down, shaken and running over”, Luke 6.38) will be presented Monday 6 May 2024, at 9 pm in the Caironi Room of Villa Jucker in Legnano, Via Matteotti 3, on the initiative of the Alcide De Gasperi Association of Legnano. The author of “A good fit. Life of an ordinary citizen” will be interviewed by dr. Gabriele Fontana, former professor of Economics and Biotechnology Legislation at the University of Insubria.

I thank Mario for writing this testimony about his story. Of having spent his adult life not only to maintain and support and look after his family, but for “more”: to build a Christian community, in the faith and in the works that were born from it. It is beautiful then to see a man who takes time and space to write his story about himself and the story that God has woven with the company to which he belongs. A saint said “A heart that he remembers is a heart that he adores and that he loves”.

With these words sister Rachele Paiuscofrom Legnano, superior of the Missionaries of San Carlo, introduces us to the work of Mario Lo Pinto “A good fit. Life of an ordinary sky”, recently published by Mimep-Docete and which follows a previous autobiographical work by the same author “My era seems to be made up of a few hours” (Mimep-Docete, 2022) which describes his youth experience, up to marriage, centered on meeting with Don Giussani’s life proposal in Student Youth and Communion and Liberation.

The threads of the presentation

The subtitle of the book “Life of an ordinary sky” expresses the common thread which underlies all the episodes told, a belonging to a Christian company which has marked all the passages of life, from the most critical to the most rewarding ones, with particular emphasis on both family life in the Legnano context, embraced since 1985 after the beginnings as citizens of Milan, both in the working world, which took Mario, thanks to his experience as a researcher in the agricultural and seed fields, around the world. Mario Lo Pinto therefore guides us through his personal story and that of those who were close to him over time with a lightness of spirit, a certain melancholy, a love for quotes and poetry and a religious tension that unfolds throughout the book .

The relationship with Legnano and another leitmotif of the book, which describes the effort and time needed to adapt to a reality different from the metropolitan one of the origins. But the author says in confidence: “After having vented my anger as a Milanese forced into exile, like Ovid in Tomis in the province of Ponto Euxine – today Costanza in Romania -, I must say that in Legnano in the end I found myself happy and I accepted it, a little force of things, like my new city.”

To end a life lived so far with always in mind these words heard by the priest in a radius of GS more than 50 years ago: “Guys, at the end of everything you said, you still have a life to live which will be different from what you expect, it will be ironically unpredictable and it will reserve the best for you only if you are loyal to yourself and live it intensely according to all its factors”. With gratitude for all the gifts received, because everything is Grace.
