The “Pedala Longa for human rights” passes through Civitavecchia

CIVITAVECCHIA – We receive and publish from PRC Civitavecchia

Vittorio Barbanotti, 72 years old, heart patient and diabetic but in love with human rights and sport, left Milan on 15 April by bicycle and will arrive in Palermo, precisely in the place where Paolo Borsellino lived, on 25 May 2024, where he will meet some relatives of the victims of the mafia and a representative of the ANPI. Subsequently he will be greeted by the Mayor Roberto Lagalla, at one of the institutional offices of the Sicilian capital.
For the second time Vittorio Barbanotti, riding his Bianchi, will reach Palermo as he already did in 2019; in 2018 he arrived from Milan in Strasbourg, while in 2015 he arrived in Rome, again by bicycle.
Ambassador of human rights, against all wars, against all mafias and violence against women, member of the Communist Refoundation Party since its foundation, Vittorio Barbanotti will meet Mimmo Lucano in Riace and, at an unspecified point on the journey, he should also intercept Michele Santoro.

The initiative, without sponsors and totally self-financed, is made possible thanks to the help of the many people who, by offering Barbanotti room and board, support him in his laudable undertaking. Even in Civitavecchia, where he arrived on May 2, Babanotti found hospitality to leave again on May 3 and reach Cerveteri (where he will meet the municipal authorities), Rome, and Albano. “If sport is practiced with real love and passion”, states Barbanotti, “it is an extraordinary means of transmitting fundamental values, for understanding the past and for present and future human coexistence”.
We wish Vittorio Barbanotti a good ride and to all the women and men (of our country and the world) peace, legality and full enjoyment of human rights.
