CORIGLIANO ROSSANO (Cs) – Completed the “Away with the bins” operation in the area of Corigliano Rossano, but despite this you can still see piles of rubbish around.
Satisfied with the work done the Councilor for the Environment, Damiano Viteritti although, he admits, it wasn’t easy. «At the beginning there were those who were skeptical about this new way of managing waste – explains Viteritti – but in the end we did it and it worked. Now the waste is collected directly from home, so the bins are no longer needed. But it is important that everyone does their part by separating waste well at home.”
With the door-to-door collection the municipal administration aims to reduce costs and increase separate waste collection. «We want a cleaner and healthier territory – adds Viteritti – and this operation is a step forward towards this goal».
The person responsible for the organisation’s Urban Hygiene services, Simone Turcounderlines how “a series of significant preparatory activities have been carried out, including the preparation of the construction site and important investments in personnel, vehicles and equipment”.
«On the night between 30 April and 1 May, we deployed a considerable number of men and vehicles to remove all the road bins and gradually clear the streets of unsorted waste that unfortunately had been abandoned.
The operations are coming to an end – says Turco – but at the same time we started door-to-door collection, with a decidedly positive response from citizens.
It is clear that there will be a transition period during which habits will have to adapt to the new service. There password in this period it is the assumption of responsibility by all those involved, because only by collaborating synergistically will we be able to obtain the expected results”.
