The Archaeological Park of the Greek Walls of Taranto last Wednesday once again welcomed the Concertone of May 1st.
A day of celebration, energy, music and messages to carry further and further, thanks to speakers that resonate and propagate not just notes.
From today, the green patch in the city, between the archaeological remains of times gone by and the skyscrapers of days gone by, returns to being one of the beating hearts of the community. The kiosks with drinks and sandwiches, with wooden tables and benches always available for those who eat or for those who prefer to bring food from home, always ready for impromptu picnics, or more simply with colored sheets spread directly on the grass in the relaxation area. The girls and boys return to play and compete for the ping pong table with the older ones and go on trips to discover the nature and history of the place they live in. Really know your places to fall in love with them and respect them. Tourists, now present in the city all year round, have discovered this park told and humanized by the QR CODE signs that lead you step by step into its history. Here, among the oldest testimonies of ancient Taras, where you can proudly discover a history that belongs to you.
In view of the summer, more and more athletes, even at the last moment, are taking up their exercise equipment or the track, rushing towards getting back into shape. In the morning at dawn and then at sunset the light dance of those who greet the sun returns, between breathing and positions of yoga, pilates and Tai Chi lovers. The most impatient are the dogs, who can’t wait to walk with their owners, smelling a great variety of flowers, and then free themselves without a leash in the area dedicated to them. The trees give shade to the elderly who look at everything with pride, and for once, they don’t say “In my time it was better”. Because, let’s face it, this park has never been as beautiful as these times, ours, since every member of the community, citizens and institutions, took their responsibility for the care of this space.
