«Giovanni Arpino, between news and novel: the journalist and the writer»: this is the title of the conference promoted by the Order of Journalists of Piedmont, scheduled for Monday 6 May, at 9.30 am, in the hall of the Industrial Union of Cuneo, in via Bersezio 9. Writer of a “brave race”, Giovanni Arpino (1927-1987) has an intense writing activity and journalistic collaborations: La Stampa, Il Giornale, Il Nostro tempo. His pieces, especially the sports ones, are not simple reports, but pointed and ironic tales. With «The shadow of the hills» he won the Strega prize in 1964. The conference, which is also a training and professional refresher course for journalists, aims to reinterpret their figure and importance in a comparison with the languages of narrative and contemporary journalism. Speakers: Tommaso Arpino, son of the writer; Maria Rosa Masoero, professor emerita Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Turin; the journalist Darwin Pastorin; the essayist and journalist Cetta Berardo. It is still possible for journalists to register for the training event until May 5th. The conference is however open to the public subject to availability.
