Football, Serie C: Olbia is thinking about the repechage

Of the five teams directly relegated at the end of the Serie C championship, Olbia, in terms of numbers, is not in very good shape.

If in terms of points won the whites are third at 26, behind Pro Sesto (35 points) and Fermana (31) and ahead of Brindisi (25) and Alessandria (20), the merciless goal difference places them at the bottom of the table , with 25 goals scored and 67 conceded, the last 4 on the last day at home against Spal. Testimony to the tragic season experienced by the Gallura people, who are now hoping for a repechage.

The club is working on the application to be readmitted to the tournament, with an eye on the Serie D championship, which – according to the statements of Benno Räber, member of the board of directors of Olbia Calcio sponsored by SwissPro – would prepare, if necessary, to win and return immediately among professionals. Of the directly relegated teams, those who have benefited from the repechage or have suffered penalties in the previous 5 years cannot submit the request for repechage. Then, there are those entitled to participate, such as the newly promoted from Serie D and the newly relegated from Serie B (see Lecco), from which some useful lump sum could arrive to free up places for the repechage of Olbia.

Therefore, the second teams of the Serie A clubs, such as Milan, about to launch the Milan Under 23, and the winners of the Serie D playoffs, direct opponents of the whites in the hypothetical ranking of those requesting the repechage.

The picture will be clearer in the next few weeks, after the playouts: the matches scheduled, between the first leg on May 12th and the second leg on the 19th, Fiorenzuola-Novara for Group A, Recanatese-Vis Pesaro for Group B and Monterosi- Potenza and Virtus Francavilla-Monopoli for Group C. Also because for next season, after Milan Under 23, the priority in the repechage will be relegated from C, and, after that, a winner of the playoffs from D.
