Anas has active investments in Piedmont for approximately 2.28 billion euros: of which 1.573 billion euros concern new works (under construction, upcoming start-up and planning), and the remaining 710.57 million euros intended for maintenance interventions programmed of existing infrastructures. The data emerged as part of the conference “Roads and mobility, Piedmont connects with the future” organized in Fossano, in the province of Cuneo, which was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Edoardo Rixi, in addition to the leaders of Anas, the president Edoardo Valente and the CEO Aldo Isi, the president of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio.

During the conference, the topic of scheduled maintenance was also addressed, to which the new multi-year program contract dedicates more than half of the total appropriations. “In Piedmont there is a growth trend – explains Anas in a note -, from 52.55 million euros in 2021 to around 75 million in 2023, with an increase of almost 50%. The scheduled maintenance works mainly concern the rehabilitation of the road surface, the maintenance of bridges and viaducts, the replacement of safety barriers and the modernization of technological systems”.

During the meeting, priority works for Piedmont were discussed, including the Fossano ring road, the Tenda Tunnel and the Demonte variant.

The Fossano ring road reopens at the end of May

On Friday 31 May Anas will reopen the Fossano ring road to traffic, currently affected by extraordinary maintenance works, for approximately 80 percent of the route. The reopening will concern 4 of the 5 viaducts affected by the interventions and will allow the town center to be freed from the passage of heavy vehicles, bringing them back onto the route. The section that will remain closed, in fact, does not concern the urban center and the works will continue without an increase in traffic. The structural works of the 4 viaducts are currently completed and the complementary works are nearing completion. Testing activities will also continue on May 7th with the execution of further load tests in addition to those already carried out in recent weeks.

Work on the Tenda Tunnel

As regards the Colle di Tenda crossing, the project involves the construction of a new one-way tunnel in the Italy-France direction, approximately 3 km and 200 meters long, equipped with a 6.50 meter wide roadway with a 3.50 meter wide lane. meters, a 2.70 emergency lane and shoulder. The progress of the final coating is 90% complete.

The Demonte variant still stopped

The Demonte variant, on the other hand, is a work that extends from km 16.2 to km 18.7 as a variant of the current state road 21, south of the town of Demonte, in the province of Cuneo. The project includes a variant with a total length of 2.72 km with a connection to the current state road through two roundabouts, the viaduct over the Cant stream of 135 m, the Perdioni viaduct of approximately 324 m and a natural tunnel of 647 m. The intervention has a total amount of 92.13 million euros financed by the recent Anas 2021-2025 Program Contract. For this work, the engineer Luca Bernardini, responsible for the Technical Management of Anas, was appointed extraordinary commissioner.
