Cremona Sera – Tezenis has closed, seventh empty shop window on Corso Campi. The shop moves to CremonaPo. The crisis in the heart of the city seems irreversible

Tezenis closed its store in Corso Campi yesterday. It is the seventh window turned off on this stretch of road. The crisis of the city’s commerce is also being felt in this street which has always been one of the coronary arteries of the city’s heart, obviously if the crisis has reached the coronary arteries, this means that the heart is truly at risk of a heart attack and that sporadic initiatives are not enough to keep it alive (like the one that is leaving in these hours). When Renzo Zaffanella inaugurated the new pavement of Corso Campi in September 1989, he dreamed of making it “the Rambla of Cremona” according to the Barcellona model. And think about how Professor Gianfranco Taglietti described Corso Campi in his book “The Streets of Cremona”: “It is the street par excellence, overlooked by the most elegant shops, with many signs of prestigious companies on a national and even global level; it is the busiest street in the city, a destination for evening strolls for young and old“. What happened? Supermarkets and shopping centers along the ring roads, lack of parking, degradation of the city centre, arrival of chains which then opt for the comings and goings of the shopping centres, hot in winter, cool in summer and with parking always available, expensive rents. Tezenis keeps the shop open at Cremona2 in Gadesco and will open in a few days in the shop on Corso Garibaldi. another disaster area in recent years due to the trade crisis.

We vote in Cremona. Let’s hope that the retail crisis in the city center becomes part of the plans and that ideas and projects don’t just remain on paper. To stop the decline of a city that dies without trade.
