In Follonica, during the National Assembly, the FIAB Italia 2024 Award was awarded to Luca Valdiserri, recognizing “his commitment toeducation of the younger generations to responsible behavior and his daily dedication to combating road violence."
The news has brought the name Luca Valdiserri, a former sports journalist for Corriere della Sera, into the limelight following the death of his 18-year-old son Francesco who, on the night between 19 and 20 October 2022, was hit and killed on the pavement by a girl who was traveling by car at high speed, with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit and not negative for cannabis.
From that night Luca Valdiserri began to "survive", as he himself says, in another life carrying forward a message for "live the road together” through initiatives, projects and events to disseminate messages on road safety and the protection of life, stimulating conscious commitment among young people.
The importance of communication and education to combat road violence
The awards ceremony took place at the end of the entitled conference The necessary words. Communicate mobility and safety, in which the importance of language and awareness-raising activities to combat road violence was reiterated. Also Luca Valdiserri was among the speakers at this moment of in-depth analysis with the intervention "Surely". Ten points for experiencing the road together, a game developed to bring traffic education to schools. Not only to train the citizens of tomorrow in respect, attention and sustainable mobility, but also to combat road violence which we remember is the leading cause of death among young people aged 9 to 25.

At the end of the conference, the FIAB Italia 2024 Award was presented by the president of FIAB Alessandro Tursi and the vice-president Giuliano Giubelli (in the photo on the cover together with Luca Valdiserri).
