«Positive results for the 2023 report»

FIUMICINO – Positive results emerged from the approval by the City Council of the management report for 2023. «Among the first relevant data we highlight a cash balance of 18,477,978.11, which is lower than that recorded in 2022 and used to define the 2023 budget, approved by the Montino Administration. As a consequence of this, it was necessary to use part of the positive balance to cover previously unsecured budget items.” This was declared by the Councilor for Budget and Taxes, Vincenzo D’Intino.

«The significant cut in non-collectible credits, – explains the Councilor – for an amount of 34,000,000.00, is the second data to highlight since it made possible a significant decrease in the funds allocated to the provision required by law, determining the possibility of using, freeing them, greater funds intended for restricted expenses without giving up the title for collection. The funds allocated to investments amount to 20,783,382.30 and are growing thanks to work to recover unused sums, mortgage surpluses or lower costs for projects. This will allow us to mitigate the need to take out new mortgages.

The negative figure of 32,996,000.00 is caused exclusively by an accounting procedure, produced by a 2015 law, with which a new system for drawing up budgets was imposed on the municipalities with a view to general harmonisation, which resulted in a negative accounting balance for the majority of local authorities. – continued the Councilor, underlining that the data relating to the Management of Fiumicino Tax Revenues, overestimated according to what was declared by the opposition representatives in the City Council, were determined by the wicked management of Fiumicino Taxes in recent years. – We had to intervene substantially by bringing the company in house and despite the initial operational difficulties, the new course produced important results, exceeding initial expectations. The current governance of the company, recently established, has outlined an ambitious action plan and optimistic prospects for the future. However, additional time is needed to fully evaluate the impact of these actions. It is expected that the results of these initiatives will appear during the second quarter of the year”, concluded the councilor.
