Nunù Trattoria Moderna (Torre del Greco), feel at home

We went to Torre del Greco, to Nunù Trattoria Moderna, and…

Home flavors and innovation.
Nunù Trattoria Moderna is a very interesting restaurant project. The restaurant, located in the heart of the coral reef Greek’s tower, reveals right from the refined pop furnishings its ambivalent soul, its exaltation of the traditional, through absolutely modern cooking and cooking techniques. Among the many details and references to Neapolitanism, the one that stands out most is the painting of the 53rd saint of Naples, San Diego Armando Maradona. His inscrutable gaze watches over the customers, who can console themselves with the dishes Nunzio Spagnuoloa Vesuvian talent who, after many cities and starry experiences, has finally returned home.
We had the pleasure of having a chat with him.

Nunù Trattoria Moderna, the interview

1) How and when was the Nunù Trattoria Moderna project born?

It was born a bit by chance, a bit by bet. The name refers to the nickname my mother gave me (and still gives me now) as a child. I wanted to dedicate this modern trattoria to her and my origins, a place accessible to all, where the customer always comes first.

2) Innovation and tradition, ok, but what are your strong dishes?

Our proposal is varied and ranges from meatballs with sauce to gold ingot. I am aware that these are two extremes, but we want to please everyone. A must to try is the spaghettone cacio e pepe with beef stew and carrot pesto.

3) What about vegetarians?

In the Nunù Trattoria Moderna menu we have many proposals for vegans, vegetarians and celiacs. We have reported all allergens and even frozen products on the menu.

4) Plans for the future?

Nunù is the future, working on this restaurant must be my priority. In the meantime, we are designing a new format, a hybrid between delicatessen and shop, where you can both eat and shop. It should open by next year. Another dream would be a “Nunù at the seaside”. I’m from here, the sea is part of it of my history, my past, my present and my future.

The tasting at Nunù

During the tasting, to which we were invited by the journalist Grazia Guarino, we tried some of the house specialties, such as the Roman artichoke heart, celeriac and spinach with grappa, stuffed courgette flowers, Capresi ravioli, and the famous gold ingot. All excellent, and served with the smile and warmth of those who want to make you feel at home, part of the large family of Nunù Trattoria Moderna.
