Colosimo to Emiliano, ‘Anti-mafia has judicial powers and methods’ – Last minute

“We both know the political liturgies and we know that you can send a delegate on your behalf to the Conference of Presidents of the Regions. So I note that you simply intend to choose the date of your hearing compatibly with your political needs. Contrary to what you say, you is not, in reality, available to be heard by the parliamentary anti-mafia commission. In fact, as you correctly wrote to me, it proceeds with the investigations with the same powers as the judicial authority and with the same methods”.

Thus the president of the anti-mafia commission Chiara Colosimo in a letter, seen by ANSA and sent last April 30 to the president of Puglia Michele Emiliano, who had requested a postponement of his anti-mafia hearing.

The date of Emiliano’s new call-up will be decided today.

On the same day, again in a letter, the president of Puglia responded: “My right to participate in the Conference of the Regions which will take place on 2 May is not a ‘political liturgy’ but an institutional duty, even more so because I carry out the role of vice president of the Conference of the Regions, which means that in cases of impediment of President Fedriga I have the right and duty even to preside over this important assembly”. In the letter Emiliano, replying again to Colosimo, denied wanting to choose the date compatibly with his political needs: “I assure you that, if this had been my will, I would have limited myself to indicating a date on which I was available to be audited instead of telling you that I am available to the commission from May 10 to May 30 at any time,” he wrote.
