End the escape for Giuseppe Carraturo escaped the drug raid a few days ago. According to the investigators, Carraturo would have been a “participant” of the criminal organization he referred to Carmine Ferrara with the task of organizing the recovery and transport operations of the narcotic substance, also identifying the companies receiving the loads, the sites where the goods will be transported and the carriers responsible for collecting and transporting the drugs. Still untraceable, however, Alfonso Masullo, between the promoters and organization of the deal. The operation, followed by Carabinieri del Rosand coordinated by Salerno prosecutor’s office, led to the arrest of 14 people: 9 in prison, 3 under house arrest and an obligation to stay. Only one of the recipients of the measure is still untraceable. The investigating judge of the Salerno court, in practice, accepted all the requests of the prosecutor’s office even if, in some cases, he did not proceed with the arrest in prison. The investigation confirmed what have long been the investigators’ hypotheses: that the city’s commercial port is a real national hub for the importation of drugs from South America and that there are connections between the people of Salerno and the ‘Ndrangheta, this time it is the Alvaro di Sinopoli. It is precisely the group’s promoter, Carmine Ferrara, who ended up under the magnifying glass of the ROS soldiers who “studied” all his movements and tried to find the correspondences between the investigative hypotheses and the facts. For the investigating judge, therefore, Ferrara would have been a real broker capable of diversifying contacts with the various criminal organizations in Campania and building very close relationships with other associations from neighboring regions, but with interests throughout the national territory. The cargo on which the investigations were focused – carried out with the collaboration of the financial police – and which led to the blitz and the execution of the measures between Salerno, Naples, Turin, Treviso, Bari and Reggio Calabria: it would have been the one seized in March 2023 of 220 kilos of cocaine hidden in a container of bananas coming fromEcuador and embarked on a motor vessel flying the Lebanese flag.

A second maxi seizure, which took place the following month, in April 2023, would have instead shone a light on the relationships of the people of Salerno in Campania: on that occasion, in fact, over a ton of marijuana was found hidden in a container loaded with chickpeas which left the Canadian port of Montreal and arrived in the port of Salerno through an import-export company dthe Poggiomarinos: the goods were destined for the Neapolitan market in the Vesuvian area.
