The manager of the Capitan Vasco club on the Latina seafront was stabbed: the attacker was found in the capital
The man who on May 1st inflicted a deep stab wound on the manager of the Capitan Vasco restaurant, located in Via Pantelleria, on the Latina seafront, was arrested immediately. The agents of the Flying Squad, led by the deputy commissioner Mattia Falso, in collaboration with their Roman colleagues, headed towards the capital, in the Centocelle district, and on the night between 1 and 2 May they arrested the man under serious suspicion of having stabbed the 65-year-old manager of the seaside restaurant together with his children.
The testimonies of those present on site at the time of the stabbing are decisive. After the stabbing, the man who was with a group of four other people got into a Fiat 500 and lost track of him as he headed towards his home in Rome. It took investigators a few hours to trace the identity of him and find him.
As you know, the bloody event happened in the early afternoon of May 1st, when the manager of the “Captain Vasco” restaurant, not far from the Vasco da Gama park, was hit with a blow to the abdomen, so much so that a transfer to hospital, at “Santa Maria Goretti” in Latina.
The 65-year-old was attacked inside the restaurant by the man now in custody who was part of a group of customers who was consuming and who had come to Latina for a trip out of town. The argument arose over a banal argument, after which, in an escalation of harsh words, one of the group’s customers stabbed the 65-year-old under the armpit. At the basis of the dispute was a dispute over the cost of lunch which should have been established originally, but which had increased due to the fact that the diners had ordered dishes not included in the fixed menu. In short, a real futility, also because the reaction was extremely disproportionate and now the man stopped by the police is accused of attempted murder.
After the injury, the whole group left, before the arrival of the Flying Squad of the Latina Police Headquarters and followed by the Flying Squad and the Forensic Squad, while the manager waited for help from 118 who immediately transported him to the emergency room. The man’s life was not in danger, but he still suffered a serious injury.
The doctors decided for surgery due to the laceration suffered. An operation that lasted about four hours for internal wounds. The 65-year-old is still hospitalized in the department.
Also lending support to the investigation was the club’s camera which did not record the scene very clearly. What can be glimpsed is a man, in his forties, who begins to push the owner of the restaurant, after which he grabs a knife – which is still to be clarified whether it is a weapon he was carrying with him, or taken directly from the table of the restaurant where sinava – and sinks it into the side from bottom to top. At the moment the knife has not yet been found.
