Nutrition and eating disorders have been steadily increasing, as is known, over the last 15 years and have accelerated in the post-Covid period. SIPPIEVA (Congress of the Italian Society of Psychiatry of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta) has therefore planned a congress dedicated to this topic which will be held in Alba, at the Banca d’Alba headquarters in via Cavour 4, Wednesday 8 May starting at 9.
The conference, entitled “The increase in eating disorders: impact on the organization of services and integrated treatment”, will see the professor as scientific managers Giovanni Abbate Daga and the Doctor Carla Martino.
It will be a training opportunity to retrace various aspects of the treatment of eating disorders, from the diagnosis of what in fact often turns out to be a “psychopathological hybrid” with concomitant symptoms of different nature, to the frequent refusal of treatment by patients, up to the relationship with families: in light of the indications relating to the most accredited psychotherapies, antidepressant and antipsychotic drugs to be used in an evidence-based way, the therapeutic network with clinical nutrition services and with family associations. The resources in the field and the organization of territorial psychiatric services will also be illustrated in relation to how other Italian regions are organized and in constant comparison with the regional law on DNA approved in Piedmont in 2022.
At 9.30 we will get to the heart of the conference with a speech by Professor Abbate Daga regarding the 2022 National Law, national funds and research news; at 10, with the professor Antonio Pretiit will be about psychopharmacotherapy in eating disorders and at 10.30, with the professor Patrizia Zeppegno of suicidal behavior and eating disorders. At 11.30 the professor Valdo Ricca will compare our service organization model with the Tuscan one; at 12 the teacher Simona Bo will talk about integrated nutritional treatment and medical emergencies. The doctor Carlotta De Bacco finally it will present the EBM psychotherapeutic models.
At the final round table, which will focus on the theme “The Piedmontese service network: synergies and problems”, will also intervene Gian Piero Porcheddu, Director of the Cooperativa Coesioni Sociali, sponsor of the event, which has long dealt with the topic of eating disorders through initiatives and new projects.
