Exactly one month after his last match, played last April 6th at the end of the first phase of the championship, theAmca Elevatori Handicap Sport Varese return to the field for play for a good share of promotion to Serie A.
He will do it on Sunday morning, May 5th, at 11.00 am at the gym of the CUS of the University of Insubriain via Monte Generoso 49 in Varese (as usual with free entry), to tackle the SS Lazio Basketball in the first final match of the Serie B championship of wheelchair basketball.
There return match is scheduled Saturday next, May 11thin Rome and, in the case of a victory for each side, the eventual play-off match will be played in the capital the following day.
In the last month the draw assigned Lupiae Salento Lecce to Lazio in the semi-finals and the Romans prevailed in three matches, losing the first leg in Lecce 63-58 but then making up for it quite clearly in the following two home matches (64-46 and 64-51 last weekend).
Amca Elevatori should have instead met Asinara of Porto Torres but the Sardinian team preferred to give up this championship commitment, favoring a concentration on the qualifiers for the Eurocup 2025, scheduled at the same time as Malaga; Like this the people of Varese found themselves without a shot in the final, avoiding the inconveniences and costs of a trip to Sardinia but staying still for a month, with the risk of arriving at this final with a lot of rust on; the hope of organizing at least one friendly match is also in vain, so one can only hope that the long break did not harm Alessandro Pedron and his teammates too much.
Lazio, like Amca Elevatori, is back from one first phase of the championship without defeats (10 victories in as many outings for both teams) and also for this reason the comparison between the two teams appears rather balanced on paper; the expert Pellegrini is the leading element but among the Romans there is no shortage of other good players.
For the red and whites it will be naturally essential to win game 1 at home and then hope to replicate the success in game 2 or in the possible game 3, which would still be played in Rome simply because the draw made the Romans leave the polls first and then the Varese players.
