“We are happy and proud to be able to host, again this year, the men’s final four under 17 in our sports hall – begins the vice-president and coach of Marsala Handball Vito Di Giovanni – we participated in the Federation’s tender, which we thank for the trust placed, aware that for the city of Marsala it represents an excellent opportunity, not only from a sporting point of view, but also from an economic point of view. More than a hundred people will flock to Capo Boeo over the weekend to experience the emotions that this youth competition offers every year. Thanks must be given to the municipal administration for having sponsored the event and, in particular, to the Sport councilor Bilardello for having participated in the press conference, confirming the support for our club”.

With these words, the spokesperson of the Lilybetan club greeted the authorities present, the journalists and the fans who arrived at the Pala San Carlo on Tuesday afternoon to attend the press conference presenting the “Under 17 men’s handball regional Final Four”, scheduled for Saturday 4th and Sunday 5 May.

“The boys had a wonderful season, reaching first place in the western group at the end of the regular season – adds coach Di Giovanni – They are working very well and I hope to be able to witness a truly high-level show, considering that four well-equipped teams will participate and with young people of great hope”.

All the details of the event were illustrated during the meeting, in the presence of the FIGH regional president Sandro Pagaria, of the Sport councilor of the Municipality of Marsala Ignazio Bilardello, of the FIGH provincial delegate Vito Miceli, of the FIGH regional delegate Aldo Fina, the representatives of the Civil Protection and the under 17 team of Pallamano Marsala led by Valerio Di Giovanni.

“We will try to give our best – said the latter – because we have been trying to gain a pass for the national finals for some years. I invite everyone to come in large numbers to the sports hall to support us”.

“Marsala Handball has won the tender to organize the men’s Final Four which, for us, represents the maximum expression of the youth championships taking into account that, from next year, the under 17s will move into the first team – declared the regional president of the FIGH Sandro Pagaria – We expect an important level of the event because four teams from the two poles, Trapani and Syracuse, will compete, which at the moment represent the best that the region can offer”.

Echoing the words of President Pagaria, those of Sports Councilor Ignazio Bilardello: «When important events like the Final Four are organised, there is a significant impact for the city. Sport, in addition to competition, is also a driving force that allows us to be together, to share important moments and, at the same time, to promote the beauty of our territory. Sport, in this case handball, has an excellent function: in addition to the training, education and integration of children, it is also a driving force for tourism promotion”.

The dean of Marsala Handball Vito Miceli, today also FIGH delegate for the province of Trapani, was excited and satisfied: “I am really happy with this initiative and, above all, with the enthusiasm that, in recent years, has been rekindled in the city. Seeing so many again young people playing, meeting and sharing moments of individual and collective growth, is an indescribable joy”.

The meeting, which the CONI delegate for the province of Trapani Elena Avellone was unable to attend because she was out of town, ended with the presentation of the Marsala Handball roster which will be the protagonist in the men’s tournament.
