a book to discover Palestinian cuisine Il Tirreno

Carrara Looking at Palestine with different eyes. We will talk about it tomorrow, Friday 3 May at 5pm at S. Giacomo in Carrara where “Pop Palestine” will be presented, a book with splendid photographs just republished by Meltemi, a journey into Palestinian cuisine, a journey through streets, pots and stoves from the south to northern Palestine: Bethlehem, Ramallah, Jerusalem, Jericho, Nablus, Janin. This book written by the food blogger Silvia Chiarantini and the Palestinian chef and teacher Fidaa IA Abuhamdiya, who gained experience in Italy at famous restaurants, preserves part of the Palestinian culture that survives through the memory of the recipes, the choice of ingredients, the traditions of how the dishes are made, the stories that lead to that day, to that dish.

“Palestine through other eyes” is the slogan that Arci wanted for the 2024 national campaign aimed at spreading a vision of Palestine that does not just talk about war, death, destruction, occupation; that speaks instead of music, poetry, theatre, figurative arts, in a word of the rich and ancient culture of this people, a culture unknown by most and yet an indispensable and jealously guarded heritage. Silvia Chiarantini, Fidaa IA Abuhamdiya, connecting from the West Bank, and Adriana Riccardi, president of the Arci Massa Carrara Committee, will participate. Reservations at [email protected] l
