Natural fibers and recovered fibres: what skills, planning, systems and investments are necessary to complete circularity in textiles?this is the title of the project promoted by the Union of Terre d’Argine together with Carpi Fashion System and the Democenter-SIPE Foundation which obtained, for the two-year period 2024-2025, 80 thousand euros from the Emilia-Romagna Regionwithin the funds of the ‘Territorial laboratories for business innovation and sustainability’ tender.
Given the approval of the PUG with strategic lines centered on the sustainability of the production sector, the establishment in the territory of the university course of studies in sustainability engineering, the international relations of the partners involved, the projects for the industrialization of the production of natural fibers ( example WaterRetting4.0 project) and fiber recovery (example Re-use project), the project aims to involve local stakeholders and businesses to identify tools, skills and technologies necessary to sustainably close circularity in textile supply chains contributing to the reduction of waste; the proposed actions aim to promote sustainable innovation of the system to attract, train and create the skills necessary to guarantee the analysis of the properties of materials, the evaluation of their suitability for certain uses and stimulate investments in research laboratories in sustainable production with reuse yarns, start research projects and innovation paths.
This is the comment of the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Economy of the Municipality of Carpi, Stefania Gasparini: “We are thrilled that the Region has recognized our valid financing project, a sign that the path undertaken in recent years has not only been useful, but has also opened up new perspectives. Focusing on innovation and research, sustainable materials and increasingly green fashion means laying the foundations for the future of the Carpi District. I would add that the virtuous network of public and private entities that made the project possible represents an excellent example of collaboration and integration, capable of systematizing all the excellence and skills of a territory that wants to relaunch itself and go far.”
Carpi Fashion System is the support project for companies in the Carpi District promoted by CNA, LAPAM-Confartigianato, Confindustria Emilia, together with the Modena Chamber of Commerce, the Democenter-SIPE Foundation, ForModena and the Municipality of Carpi, with the decisive contribution of the Foundation CR Carpi.
