Over twenty thousand in Imola for Ayrton

An intense day, with an audience, passion, sharing and a sense of memory. This in short is the thirtieth anniversary of the death of the great Ayrton Senna, experienced yesterday on the Imola circuit, for half a memorable day in terms of the feelings and spontaneity of all those present.

So a success with the public and also a lot of love for Ayrton and Roland Ratzenberger, who will forever be linked to him by terrible and close accidents both in space and time, binding them inextricably.

Since Wednesday morning people have entered the circuit regularly, favored by the possibility of going around without problems, with half the Ayrton monument and, obviously, the Tamburello curve, where on 1 May 1994 at 2.27 pm the race ended forever career of the Brazilian ace but certainly not his strength to magnetize and attract the dreams and fascination of fans from practically all over the world.

Among those present, the most appreciated by the fans was our photojournalist Angelo Orsi, a great friend of Senna and custodian of many unforgettable moments spent with the champion.

To summarize everything, as a positive summary, the words of the Mayor of Imola, Marco Panieri: «An extraordinary and historic day ended, in which we commemorated the thirtieth anniversary of the death of the drivers Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger. Over 20,000 people reached the Autodrome today, testifying to the bond that still exists for them and the values they have embodied. We did this by receiving the honor of the presence of the Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, of the Minister of Foreign Relations of the Federative Republic of Brazil Mauro Vieira and of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria Alexander Schallenberg. I want to thank them because it was an honor to welcome them, together with the Secretary of State of San Marino Teodoro Lonfernini. For the commemoration there was also, together with us, a representation of the drivers’ families: Roland’s parents, Rudolf and Margit, and Bruno Senna, Ayrton’s nephew. Four nations came together to celebrate the values of sport that Ayrton and Roland embodied, becoming a bridge of peace, brotherhood and dialogue between peoples. For this I want to thank the Department for Sports Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We are really satisfied with the day and I want to thank those who worked behind the scenes to make it a success.”
