In the aftermath of the derby lost 1-0 in Reggio Emilia, the first lost by the Rivetti family, there is rightly a lot of disappointment and bitterness in the Modena household. Especially among the Gialloblù fans, who were certainly expecting a different performance than the one offered by Pierpaolo Bisoli’s team at the Mapei Stadium. The defeat suffered against Reggiana is just one of the numerous negative results arrived in a return round to be forgotten from every point of view and the numbers bear witness to this, which beyond purely technical and tactical discussions never lie: after having obtained 28 points in the first 19 games (average 1.47), Modena took home only 15 in the following seventeen matches (average 0.88). Six defeats, only two wins and nine draws, this is the balance sheet of a return round in which all the limitations of a squad that in the first part of the season had performed well despite everything were overcome. In the midst of a winter transfer window, which evidently weakened Modena and which inevitably and belatedly led to the dismissal of Paolo Bianco and the consequent arrival of Bisoli on the yellow-blue bench. Now what matters is achieving mathematical salvation (without considering the results of direct competitors, one point is enough) and gaining the chance to play in Serie B for the third consecutive year. Once the sporting year is over (last round in Lecco on 10 May), it will be necessary to analyze what happened, reset but at the same time learn from the mistakes made and make the necessary assessments to improve and raise the bar which for various reasons in this championship was not raised. Also starting from the passion and affection of the people of Modena, always alongside their city’s team: it would be a great shame to waste such important and precious support.
