There candidacy of general Roberto Vannacci in the League do not like. It’s nothing new. But this time it is a big figure from the Carroccio who lets it be understood, that is, the president of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia. Who immediately distances himself from the general, underlining that he is an independent candidate and not of the League, who instead “has his own values”, while Vannacci “will have others”.

Zaia will not vote for the general: “I would feel like a traitor not to vote for a Venetian,” he states. On the other hand, Vannacci in the North-East, a constituency which also includes Veneto, will not be at the top of the list, unlike what happens in the Center and the South.

Zaia also against Vannacci’s candidacy: the revolt is spreading in the League

On the European elections Zaia explains that he has his candidates: “I would feel like a sinner to vote for someone who is not from Veneto, without offense to others, because I know everyone. I will be equidistant from everyone, there is no need to go outside the Veneto region to choose the candidate.”

When talking about Vannacci, the president of the Veneto Region adds: “His ideals are the Constitution and the Constitution provides for autonomy so this applies to everyone. Autonomy is also provided for by the Constitution. Everything else is digressions on the topic.” And, again, he does not hide criticism of some of the general’s statements: “I don’t agree with him proposal of separate classes and the conception of Mussolini as a statesman”.

In any case, in his opinion, the general’s candidacy must “be rrespected given and considered that it is a prerogative of our secretary. I like to remember that there is a good list of candidates here and I am sure that they will also be able to express a good result in terms of preferences given that they are well-known people”.
