Everything is ready for the First City of Olbia Trophy

OLBIA. More than a thousand young footballers are ready to compete for the First City of Olbia Trophy. Everything is ready for the great football event born in Gallura and which will welcome almost one hundred professional and amateur teams from 3 to 5 May 2024. At the center is the world of football combined with training, which is aimed at athletes from all over the island and from overseas and aged between 8 and 13. Today’s very young talents ready to become the new stars of football. Among the participating clubs, the famous names of Juventus, Milan, Roma, Cagliari, Monza and Ajaccio stand out.
The trophy was created by the Olbia 1905 Academy, a football school active in the area, with the patronage of the Municipality of Olbia and the Sardinia Region. 86 teams from amateur categories and 12 professional ones: these are the main numbers of the first edition of a trophy that is preparing to become a point of reference for the football of tomorrow and well beyond regional borders. The tournament will be divided into three categories: First kicks (under 9) will see the players from the 2015-2016 class on the field, Pulcini (under 11) for the 2013-2014 class and finally the Debutants (under 13) from the 2011-2012 class.
The arrival of all teams is expected tomorrow afternoon, Friday 3 May. After accommodation in the hotel, the “First City of Olbia Trophy” will begin outside the playing field and around a round table for a conference on the psychology of sport at 6 pm in the Community hub room, in via Perugia. “Strategies and opportunities for young people through sport” is the title of the meeting moderated by Cristiano Depalmas, psychologist from Olbia 1905 Academy. Together with various institutional figures, the dialogue will focus on the perspectives and support of the little ones through training and sporting activities. The round table will be attended by the mayor of Olbia Settimo Nizzi, the councilors for Education Sabrina Serra, for Social Policies Simonetta Lai, for Tourism Marco Balata, for Sport Elena Casu, the former vice president of the Region Giuseppe Fasolino, the FIGC representative Giampiero Pinna and the director of Cipnes Aldo Carta. In the evening, the delegations will parade with dozens of different shirts along Corso Umberto I, in the historic center of Olbia, for a presentation to the city.
On Saturday 4 May, wake up early, have breakfast and start the tournament at 9am. The matches in the first phase, the group stage, will continue until the afternoon. Same program on Sunday 5 May. Off at 9am until the finals which will take place in the afternoon. The awards ceremony will follow. On Saturday, the First kicks and Pulcini categories will compete on the fields of the Geovillage, in Olbia, while the Debutants will compete between the “Bruno Nespoli” Stadium (Olbia) and the municipal field of Golfo Aranci. On Sunday the final stages of the event will also have another setting, that of the Loiri Porto San Paolo field. The rookie final will still be at the “Bruno Nespoli” stadium.

I also particularly thank the former regional councilor Giuseppe Fasolino for believing in this event.”

Bonifacio, Nettuno, Olbia, Atletico Maddalena, Lascaris, Polisportiva Supramonte, Gallia Lucciana, San Paolo Santos, Torres, Pro soccer Lab, Berchidda, Dorgalese, Palau, Academy Porto Rotondo, Sporting Vigor Capoterra, Tanca Marchesa, Futura Calcio Sales, Turritana, Accademia Ogliastra, Atletico Olbia, Sant’Elena, Fonni, Cus Sassari, Ilva Maddalena, Polisportiva Bittese, Atletico Monti, Usinese, Atletico Buddusò, San Paolo Sassari, Arzachena Academy, Pirri, Nuova San Francesco, Alghero, Milan, Juventus, Ajaccio, Monza, Cagliari, these are the participating teams, most of which are present with multiple teams to take part in more than one category.
