The eleventh edition of the Udine Castello Festival opens on Sunday 5 May: ten events organized during the month by the Friends of Music between Udine, Cividale del Friuli, Palmanova, Artegna, Moruzzo, Grado and Rosazzo. The spotlight will thus be turned on the most diverse places in our region including concerts, conferences, meetings and guided tours, highlighting the tourist interest of each site. On Sunday at 11 am, in the Parliament Hall of the Castle of Udine, here is a concert by ERT FVG, an organization that has been a partner of the Friends of Music for many years in the creation of special events. On stage, the Arrigoni String Orchestra directed by Domenico Mason, with the participation of the eclectic pianist Andrea Bacchetti as a soloist, in a program that includes masterpieces: the Concerto in C minor for piano K 491 and the Concerto for strings by Nino Rota, whose 45th anniversary this year marks the death.

«The idea of valorising the Castle headquarters thanks to a music festival that took place right in the Parliament Hall – recalls the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Udine, Federico Pirone – over the years has transformed into a consolidated tradition: today it it is also widespread in other municipalities, but the centrality of the Castle location always remains”. In anticipation of nominating what is defined as the largest artificial hill in Europe as a UNESCO heritage site, the councilor comments that «Udine is a city in the heart of Europe. It is so by history, by tradition and by geographical vocation. Therefore cultural operators, like in this case the Friends of Music, allow us to reach Europe and at the same time bring Europe here, promoting the tourist vocation of our city with quality projects”.

The Udine Castello Festival, which is part of the European Festival Association, is organized by the Friends of Music of Udine with the artistic direction of Luisa Sello and the support of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the FVG Region, the Friuli Foundation, the Municipality of Udine and the Regional Theater Authority FVG, with the support of the municipalities involved, private sponsors and in partnership with the Naonis Music Academy.

Tickets for the concert on May 5th (single entry: 10 euros) are on sale on the website ertfvg.vivaticket.it or can be purchased directly on site. To go up to the Castle, the lift which is accessed from Vicolo Sottomonte is in operation.
