Descriptive text here

As part of the usual prevention and judicial police activities carried out by the Cremona Police Headquarters during sports competitions, in particular football ones, the following measures have been adopted in recent days on the basis of the investigations carried out by DIGOS:

On March 9th, on the occasion of the football match “US CREMONESE 1903 – COMO”, valid for the 2023/2024 Serie B National Championship, during the stages of the event, a Como fan present in the “Curva Nord” guest sector, in an inexplicable outburst of anger, suddenly kicked a child seat of the curve causing it to break. In the following days, DIGOS staff acquired the images relating to the recordings of the video surveillance system with which the Giovanni Zini stadium is equipped with the aim of viewing and analyzing the incident and identifying the perpetrator of the event. From the images extrapolated from the “north curve” sector, it was ascertained that the aggravated damage had actually been caused according to the methods described. The person responsible for the crime, visually identified from the images of the cameras, was then identified thanks to comparisons with the images taken outside the stadium by the Scientific Police and those of the video cameras placed on the access turnstiles, allowing, at the end of the subsequent investigations, lasted a few days, to recognize and identify without a shadow of a doubt the person who committed the crime. The Como fan, resident in that city centre, was investigated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Cremona for the crime of aggravated damage and procedures are underway against him for the imposition of a ban on access to all sporting competitions by the Anti-Crime Division.

A similar event then happened on April 1st during the meeting “US CREMONESE – FERALPISALO'”. Also during that match, a fan from Brescia deliberately kicked a seat on the North Curve of the Zini stadium, uprooting it from its seat and smashing it. Also on that occasion the fan was identified through the analysis of the images of the stadium’s closed circuit cameras compared with access to the sector through named tickets. The supporter was investigated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Cremona for the crime of aggravated damage and procedures are underway against him for the imposition of a ban on access to all sporting competitions.

As regards the local fans, during the meeting “US CREMONESE – BRESCIA” of 27 January last, numerous smoke bombs had been lit during the match inside the South Curva, some of which were then thrown onto the pitch. Also in this case the analysis of the footage from the internal cameras carried out by DIGOS allowed to identify two Cremona fans responsible for setting off smoke bombs who were therefore investigated for the specific crime by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Cremona and a ban on access to sporting competitions for 1 year has already been issued against them.

Always during the meeting “US CREMONESE – FERALPISALO’” on April 1st, at the end of the match, when the Cremonese players were greeting under the south curve, a local fan, after lighting it, threw a smoke bomb onto the pitch which fell near the goal Also in this case the man, after the necessary investigations, has been identified and investigated for the specific crime and procedures will be initiated against him for the imposition of the ban on access to sporting competitions.

The investigations carried out and the subsequent measures requested by the Police Commissioner of Cremona are necessary to guarantee the continuation of the championship in compliance with the specific legislation, which, pursuant to art. 6-bis of law no. 401/1989 punishes not only throwing but also the use of instruments such as, for example, smoke bombs, rockets, firecrackers, bats and sticks which can pose a real danger to the safety of people present at the sporting event. The objective is, in addition to compliance with current regulations, to guarantee public order and safety, protecting all those who go to the stadium without having to fear running into danger or being involved in episodes of violence.
