Ragusa, Toti and Totino applauded at Perracchio

The two forgers (Totino La Mantia and Toti Mancuso, better known as Toti and Totino), with the help of a third accomplice, accompanied the spectators to experience a story made of irony, of self-irony, to discover the beauty of the ridiculous which often surrounds us. The two comedians from Palermo closed the events of the Season of Smiles as well as one could not hope for which, hosted at the Marcello Perracchio in Ragusa, constituted an offshoot, with auteur comedy theatre, of Theater in the foreground. In this last performance, which entertained the public a lot, also because it was freely inspired by a timeless classic with cinematographic protagonists Totò and Peppino De Filippo, namely “La banda degli honest”, the meaning of of comedy as a social act, like honesty, to be shared to create human connections that last over time.

“Comedy is a universal art – explains director Giampaolo Romania – a language that crosses cultural, linguistic and social borders. It is a reflection of our humanity, a way of exploring and sharing the joys and follies of life. Vehicle through which we can hope to start that process of emotional transformation for a prompt “healing of the soul”. But what makes something truly fun? Certainly the Unexpected, the Incongruous: the element of surprise that breaks expectations. The situation where one thing is expected and something else happens, or when opposites first meet and then collide in an unpredictable way. Inconsistency, absurdity and paradox are therefore like the species that populate a wonderful and surprising communal garden.” Moments tinged with intelligent irony and shrewd wit, always with a smile on his face, characterize this staging applauded by the audience. Another successful bet to make spectators more and more passionate about this type of representation with a great impact.
