It grows vehicular transit and improves safety on the motorway network of CAV-Venetian Motorway Concessions.

CAV closes the financial statements for 2023 with a profit of 31.8 million euros, up by +29.4% compared to the previous year, when a profit of 24.6 million was recorded.

Total revenues in 2023 reach 157.2 million euros with a gross operating margin of 98.2 million, up by +7.48% on 2022 and a pre-tax result of 43.6 million, up by 28%. .3% on the previous year.
The data for the annual financial year were presented during the Company’s shareholders’ meeting, which highlighted the factors that made the result possible.

Autostrade Veneto: more transits and greater safety

On the one hand, traffic increase of +4.1% over 2022 which, while keeping motorway tariffs unchanged, made it possible to produce an increase in toll revenues of 4 million euros (+2.52% compared to the previous year).

On the other hand, the work carried out by the Company as part of the activities of management cost control, which allowed us to improve the overall efficiency of all company processes by reducing costs even in an inflationary context.

On the liquidity front, as of 31 December 2023, a value of 195.2 million euros was recorded: in terms of projection, by 2032, CAV expects to invest 162 million euros.

During 2023, the vehicles transited on the entire CAV network were over 76 million compared to 73 million in 2022. The vehicular traffic was composed of light vehicles for 77.26% and heavy vehicles for the remaining 22.74%.

Despite the increase in transits, the accidents long the motorways of the Veneto region managed, however, decreased by 18%, with 204 accidents recorded during 2023 compared to 249 in 2022. Of these, 141 involved light vehicles (-19.89% compared to 2022) and 63 heavy vehicles (- 13.7%).

The accident rate drops in 2023 to 10.90% with a decrease of -21.23% compared to 2022. The significant improvement in safety is also due to CAV’s growing commitment to safety services infomobility offered to users.

Technology and sustainability

The commitment to technological evolution has allowed the company to experiment new technologies under the eRoads planfocused on the continuous evolution of the proprietary software platform for the control of road conditions and traffic. The C-Roads Italy collaborative project has also been launched, dedicated to the development of cooperative services based oninteraction between vehicle and infrastructure.

The skills developed by the company in terms of technological innovation have made it possible to launch cutting-edge experimentation in the use of quantum keys to encrypt connections.

For the second year CAV presented the Non-Financial Statement which demonstrates its commitment to sustainability. Maintaining high quality standards begins with the management of staff which, made up of 227 employees, 98% of whom are employed on a permanent basis, were able to benefit from over 7,400 hours of training during 2023 (+135% compared to the previous year) .

The attention to gender balance (the Board of Directors is made up of 60% women) has resulted in the achievement of certifications on gender equality and the social responsibility management system (SA 8000).
The growth of +3% in turnover and +29% in net profit made it possible to allocate over 7 million euros in the 2024 budget for investments in sustainability.

In 2023 CAV has consumed 2% less energy than in 2022, contributing with self-production through its own plants photovoltaic to reduce environmental impact. CO2 emissions remained within expected parameters and the water withdrawal was reduced by 44%. Achievements that have allowed CAV to obtain certification on the energy management system (UNI EN ISO 50001:2018).
