Prestigious closing at the Amateur Theater Festival “Premio Città di Taranto”, established by the Municipality of Taranto and now in its third edition, created by the “Compagnia Teatrale Lino Conte” Cultural Artistic Association on behalf of Fita Puglia.
The program organized by artistic director Lino Conte ends with the show “The mayor of the Sanità district” by Eduardo De Filippo, directed by Franco Nacca. The appointment is scheduled for Friday 3 May at 9pm on the stage of the Teatro Comunale Fusco.
“The mayor of Rione Sanità” is a comedy in three acts written and performed by Eduardo De Filippo, included by the author in the collection “Cantata dei giorni dispari”. The protagonist, Antonio Barracano is “the mayor” of Healthcare. Here he administers the affairs of the neighborhood, a “man of honor” who distinguishes between “good people and scoundrels”.
In a sort of overturning of the legal system, Don Antonio has for years availed himself of the help of Fabio Della Ragione, a doctor who, with his work, essentially prevents the results of the shootings and the settling of accounts that happen in the neighborhood.
Those who “keep saints” go to Heaven and those who don’t keep them go to Don Antonio, it’s always been like this. However, when a desperate Rafiluccio Santaniello, the baker’s son, appears before him, determined to kill his father Arturo, Don Antonio, seeing in the young man the same determination that pushed him to murder in his youth, offers himself as a mediator, thus setting out on the fatal meeting with Arthur.

Entry to the show is scheduled to start at 8.30pm, with curtain at 9pm. The cost of tickets is 12.50 euros for the stalls and the gallery (reduced prices for Fita, Uilt, Over 70, children up to 10 years old at cost 10 euros) and 8 euros for the lodges.
