It was also confirmed in the city council on Tuesday evening, with 22 votes in favor, 8 against and 1 abstention, the green light for the 2023 management report. Resources amounting to 20-21 million euros are available to be used immediately for housing, social, road, safety, mobility, walls and school building emergencies. Overall, Palazzo Barbieri closes the financial year with a result for the current income portion of 382 million euros, up compared to 2022 where a result of 368 million euros was recorded. The Municipality’s debt has been significantly reduced from 146.6 million euros in 2021 to 81.2 million euros at the end of 2023 and Verona is once again the first Municipality in Italy for payment times (13 days) towards suppliers.

The management ended with an administration surplus of 232 million euros (in 2022 – 207 million euros), of which a set aside portion of 115.6 million euros, 63.5 million euros restricted, 9.8 million euros allocated to investments and 42.9 million euros available.
Expense
For current expenditure the Administration last year has committed 329.5 million euros of which over 174.9 million for the purchase of goods and services, 54.5 million for current transfers and 78 million for the payment of employees of the Municipality of Verona.
Increased expenses should be noted in favor of:
- socialwith particular attention to services for minors, which recorded a +2.5 million euros;
- disability, +1 million euros; elderly +300 thousand;
- reception + 300 thousand;
- resources are also growing safety+420 thousand.
- There culture finally goes from 18 million 400 thousand invested in 2022 to 21 million 800 thousand in 2023, to which are added 400 thousand euros more for the tourism.
