An exclusive location like the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, a UNESCO heritage site, served as the stage for the 1st round of the Italian Youth Cup. It was a spectacular day and what made it so were the approximately 200 young male and female athletes from 19 regions who battled in exciting and uncertain competitions.
The National meeting was exactly this, an extraordinary fat wheel party. For the record, the final ranking – obtained with the sum of the points won in all categories – saw for the second consecutive year the success of the Lombardy Regional Committee led by the Regional President Stefano Pedrinazzi, assisted by the regional technician Maffeis.
The Italian Cup, organized by the Asd Racing Team of president Mirella Di Falco with the collaboration of the Sicilian Regional Committee led by president Diego Guardì, proved first of all to be a real promotion for MTB.
The spirit of the organizers, led by Totò D’Andrea, has always been to begin cultivating the pleasure of sport with youth cycling and the inclusion of the event in the prestigious context of the Valley of the Temples.
The day ended with the competition Very young while to underline for Sicily is the victory in the 2nd year Women’s Beginners battery by Sarah Lardizzone.
A special thank you goes to the FCI National Vice President Carmine Acquasanta, to the National Secretariat member Michelangelo Costa, to the president of the Regional Committee Diego Guardi, to the vice presidents Calogero Rivituso and Nunzio Uccellatore, to the member of the national MTB sector Ignazio Saia, to the manager of the MTB sector Giuseppe Nascondiglio and to the regional technicians Gerlando Scrofani and Domenico Vicari. A special mention for the impeccable work done by the President of the Jury Giulia Laghi (next to the Paris Olympics), the arrival judge Federica Guarniero, the secretary Grazia Ziri and the members Sonia Carta and Alfano Pinna.
For its part, Trinacria Ciclismo thanks Totò’ D’Andrea, heart and soul of the Agrigentom Youth Italian Cup, already in its fifth edition.
