A program full of events for this month of May with initiatives suitable for different types of audiences to make culture accessible to all.

CERAMICS IN ANCIENT TIMES – Sunday 5 May

During the thematic visit for adults we will talk about ceramics and its widespread diffusion; we will find out uses and artisanal productions which made this material an element that marks ancient societies and historical periods. In the Museum of Geopaleontology and Prehistory of the Alban Hillswe will analyze the protohistoric ceramics from Pian Quintino and we will move on to examine the clay slabs coming fromarchaeological area of ​​the SS.Stimmates and today preserved in the Archaeological Museum “O.Nardini.”
The guided tour will take place Sunday 5 May at 10.30 am.

Cost of the guided tour: €4 + entrance ticket to the Museum.

KID PASS DAYS – Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May
Also this year the Civic Museums of Velletri join Kid Pass Days Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May with free activities for children by Le Macchine Celibi Soc. Coop., manager of museum services.

Kid Pass Days, the great event dedicated to families to discover the cultural, historical, artistic and scientific heritage of all of Italy, has the aim of spreading the accessibility of child-friendly culture.

This year in our museums we have decided to start a collaboration with educators who work with hearing-impaired and deaf children using Sign Languageplanning a journey to discover the “O.Nardini” Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Geopaleontology and Prehistory of the Alban Hills That Saturday 11 May at 3.30 pm will allow the little ones, from 6 years old and upto learn how to mark some key words regarding cultural heritage and the topics covered in the two museums.

The activity will be curated by Anna D’Annibale And Viviana Rocchi.

Sunday 12 May at 10.30am with the animated reading of the books: Wonderful Neighbors, The Wall and The Most Important Thing We Will Touch, with children aged 3 to 5 yearsthe theme of inclusion and we will play with colored paper to create a self-portrait of each one to highlight the richness of difference.

All scheduled activities are free.

Entrance fee paid according to municipal tariff.

CONFERENCE – Friday 17 May

Friday 17 May at 4.30pm will be held at Terpsichore Hall of the Town Hallthe conference L’Oscillum: past and present stories for a new tactile experience .

After careful restoration and exposure at the “Recycling Beauty” exhibition in Prada Foundationthe Velletri Oscillum will be relocated to the museum rooms.

The conference will be a precious opportunity to discover the restoration and studies conducted on an archaeological find from the Roman period whose reuse in post-ancient contexts, thanks to the dichotomy between form and meaning, led to its conservation.

To reflect on the present and future of museums, starting from the exhibition ofOscillumthe director of the Civic Museums of Velletri, Raffaella Silvestri, will present the project of the new tactile path.

Give her 6.00 pm the conference audience will be able to participate in a moment of conviviality it’s a coffee breaks in the museum rooms while at 6.15pm will follow institutional visit of the museum with a focus on the new location of theOscillum edited by the museum director.

Free guided tours open to the public will be held at 6.45pm and 7.15pm at “O.Nardini” Archaeological Museum to discover together the collection preserved in the museum.

MUSEUM NIGHT 2024Saturday 18 May

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Civic Museums of Velletri at night! On the occasion of Night of the Museums 2024opening of the Museums from 5.00 pm to midnightwith a lineup of activities that will involve the entire public:

at 5.30 pm a guided tour for families at Archaeological Museum “O. Nardini” in which everyone will be able to get to know some finds first-hand but above all have a tactile approach to the plaster copy ofOscilluma piece just relocated after the last restoration and presented at the conference the previous day.

The laboratory for children aged 6 and over All-round ceramic will take place at 6.30pm at the Archaeological Museum “O. Nardini”

At 7.00 pm there thematic visit The domus: spaces and objects at Archaeological Museum “O. Nardini”, will lead you to discover the architectural structure of the Roman villa, its development and meaning over the centuries starting from the first prehistoric huts up to the finds from Villa Mètabo which provide data on the reconstruction of the furnishings.

The day will end with a guided tour of 9.00 pm at the archaeological area of ​​the SS. Stigmata and at 10.00 pm at the Museum of Geopaleontology and Prehistory of the Alban Hills.
