Cesena, the last farewell to Edo Lelli in the Duomo

Edo Lelli’s funeral will be celebrated today at 3.30 pm in the Cathedral, after which the burial will continue at the Ruffio cemetery. It will be the last tribute to a very well-known entrepreneur, as well as a former player, manager and partner of Cesena Calcio. He was born in Cesena on 1 November 1932 and leaves behind his wife Romana, his son Lorenzo with Agnese (who inherited the business activities and passion for the black and white colors from his father), his granddaughters Lucrezia and Vittoria.

Plant engineering

“The entrepreneur” is the answer that twenty-year-old Lelli gave, when he was hired, to his employer who asked him what he wanted to do. And the entrepreneur, after the first years as a construction site manager for a company in Bologna (his wife’s hometown) and by virtue of the experience acquired, began to do things in 1961 when he set up his own business and opened a business in the construction sector. electrical and telephone systems. He founded Edo Lelli Srl, which later became a joint stock company, which worked for large companies such as Sip, Enel, Ferrovie, managing up to 450 motorized vehicles, 530 employees spread throughout Italy and achieving significant turnover.

Lelli was able to interpret the entrepreneurial spirit of his time like that time, in the 70s when a heavy snowfall had knocked down numerous telephone poles. The sudden and urgent need to find manpower to carry out the maintenance and restoration work led him to search the bars of the city and surrounding areas with vans for men available to work.

Subsequently, with the birth of Celbo Spa, we moved from installation to the production of materials for plant engineering.

Over the years, the company activity, with the management involvement of his son Lorenzo, has diversified, also dealing with the manufacture of bodywork components for agricultural machinery, trucks and automotive (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Nissan) and other sectors.

Lelli was a councilor of the Association of small and medium-sized enterprises and a director of AC Cesena since the 1970s.

Publishing

Lelli stood out for her style and elegance in her way of acting and also of dressing.

Linked to Count Alberto Rognoni, who had been his president when he played for Cesena and whom he considered one of his teachers, Lelli was also a publisher in the 70s. In particular he published the magazine “Romagna”, a monthly magazine of information, politics and culture. and sport, founded in 1973 with headquarters in Corso Cavour in Cesena. A first publication which subsequently also took on the guise and frequency of a weekly magazine with the name “Corriere Romagna”.

He also loved producing wine especially for friends, which he then bottled with his own labels. Awarded the title of Commander of the Republic of San Marino, in 2004 he obtained, at the beautiful age of 72, a degree in Law from the Sapienza University of Rome.
