Safety at sea and recreational sailing: the conference promoted by FIV and XIIIª Zona on Tuesday 7 May in Trieste

This is why the Italian Sailing Federation Committee XIII Friuli Venezia Giulia Zone has decided to organize a conference, followed by a demonstration part in the water, with the theme “Safety at sea and recreational sailing”. The speakers belong to the institutions that have among their objectives also include the issue of safety at sea, such as the Port Authority of Trieste, Arpa Friuli Venezia Giulia and Accademia Barcolana. The conference will take place on Tuesday 7 May in Trieste and is included in the “A Light Always On” exhibition in the Luttazzi Room at Magazzino 26 in Porto Vecchio and will be followed by a practical demonstration with rocket firing at known distances, visible from the head of the Pier Audace.An event aimed at all citizens, shipowners and yachtsmen, who wish to inform themselves and be updated on safety at sea. The program, starting at 6.30 pm, will take place with the interventions of the Port Authority of Trieste in the persons of the Frigate Captain Giovanni Baici and the Captain of the Vessel Diego Tomat: the first will explain the regulations and good practices in pleasure sailing , the second the Coast Guard intervention procedures. Dr. Arturo Picillo of Arpa Friuli Venezia Giulia will follow and focus his speech on weather forecasts in the northern Adriatic, types of storms, statistical and climatic notes on storms, storm forecasting with direct observation of meteorological phenomena.

Finally, at the end of the conference, World Sailing (International Sailing Federation) teacher Leandro Visentin at the Barcolana Academy will illustrate the safety equipment used on offshore regattas and give some advice on survival at sea. A detailed succession of valuable topics for your safety on a sailing boat and that of your crew.
