On the identity card the photo was his, but the personal details were different. Not that it helped him much, given that the photo identification left no room for doubt: he was indeed the 35-year-old wanted man that the Romanian authorities had been looking for for some time.

Stopped at the arrivals area

The man, a citizen originally from the Eastern European country, as reported today (Wednesday May 1st) by Courier Bergamo he had gone to pick up his wife and daughters at Orio airport last Monday.

They had reached him from Bucharest for Orthodox Easter, but the Romanian police had reported to the Italian police that the family was joining him by plane in Bergamo. Therefore, when the subject reached them in the arrivals area, the border police checked him.

Wanted for money laundering

There was a European arrest warrant for the individual for money laundering, obtained through cyber scams carried out between 2019 and 2021. When the officers asked him for a document, he showed his identity card on which there was yes the image with his face, but the personal information was different.

Subjected to the photo-signalling test, it was instead discovered that it was the wanted man they were looking for, consequently he was arrested and taken to prison in via Gleno.
