Fiab Forlì, ANPI Section of Cesena and ANPI Provincial Committee Forlì-Cesena present the fourth edition of “La Resistenza: Cycle tourism of memory on the sites of the Nazi-fascist massacres in the Cesena area”, which will take place on Sunday 5 May 2024.

This cycling event aims to remember the places that were the theater of anti-fascist history, connecting them through the most resistant of means of transport: the bicycle.

A group of cyclists will start from the center of Cesena along a 30 km flat route, partly asphalted and partly on dirt roads.
Along the way we will stop at the commemorative stones to retrace the historical events linked to the oppression of the fascist regime, the violence of the Nazi-fascist occupation and the Liberation of Cesena.
The excursion includes refreshment at the ARCI Bagnile Club and a technical assistance service along the route. During the event it will also be possible to purchase the limited edition La Resistenza 2024 t-shirt. The group’s pace will be moderate and the excursion will last approximately 3 and a half hours.
The place and time of departure will be communicated to participants via the contact details indicated during registration. There is a contribution of 10 euros which includes the guide, insurance and a refreshment point.
Due to organizational needs, the number of places available is limited.
It is possible to register by writing to [email protected] or by sending a message to the numbers 3336678611 – 3334669480.

The real protagonists of the event will be the places of memory, specifically indicated by illustrative signs: the monument to the Resistance in the Savelli Gardens, the Martorano memorial stone, the Bagnile memorial stone, the tombstones of the Casa del Popolo of San Giorgio, the Gattolino memorial stone, the memorial stone of Ponte Ruffio. Participants who will try their hand at the long route will also add to these: the memorial stones of San Tomaso, Carpineta and Monteleone.

Almost 80 years after the Liberation from fascism, the drama and mourning that invaded souls and territories seem to have faded. Fortunately, the generation that suffered the most extreme consequences of the cruel dictatorship saw fit to leave monuments in memory of the events. The bicycle emblem of the Resistance, used by couriers and partisans to move and carry weapons and communications, today becomes a means to recover that same memory.
