A plaque in the Tosa stand, dedicated to him since 2004, with the words “He lived for his dream”. It is the homage that the city of Imola wanted to dedicate to Roland Ratzenberger on the 30th anniversary of his death on 30 April 1994.

The initiative, organized by the La Sfida del Cuore Onlus association, was attended by the mayor Marco Panieri, the Autodromo councilor Elena Penazzi and the president of Formula Imola, Gian Carlo Minardi. The former Minardi driver Pierluigi Martini, on track on that weekend 30 years ago, and the Mercedes talent Andrea Kimi Antonelli, engaged yesterday and Monday in two days of testing at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari, could not be missing.

The ceremony, after the European, Austrian and Italian anthem, saw the interventions of the authorities and the placing of bouquets of flowers at the foot of the grandstand, before the unveiling of the plaque and the blessing by Don Pierpaolo Pasini. At the end, the La Sfida del Cuore association also wanted to pay homage to the Ratzenberger family with a ceramic plaque.

«After thirty years we do not want to celebrate Roland’s death, but rather his life – said Mayor Panieri -. The life of a pilot full of courage, enthusiasm and sacrifices also for his family. We want to remember him not one day, but every day.”
