CATANZARO – Councilor Arcuri: In 2024 the Tari will cost less

The Environment Councilor, Giorgio Arcuriexplained how it was possible to obtain a reduction in the TARI of 7 percent, compared to the initial forecast for 2024, and of 2 percent compared to last year.

The reduction of transfer costs and the valorisation of revenues has, in fact, allowed the Municipality of Catanzaro to reduce the Tari for the year 2024. A result sanctioned in the context of the revision of the economic and financial plan of the waste tax, approved by the City Council, with particular reference to the amount for the current year.

«The municipal administration – explained Arcuri – managed to achieve this goal thanks above all to a careful market survey, extended to a regional level, regarding the services offered by private waste management plants. Specifically, despite the general increase in costs, it was possible to significantly reduce the outlays linked, for example, to the disposal of sweeping earth and tyres, which affected the overall amount of the service charges. At the same time, a lot of work has been done to increase the economic valorisation of separated waste, in particular plastic, compared to previous years. I want to thank the entire environment sector, directed by Antonio Dominijanni, for having supported me in this complex activity. An objective achieved thanks to the collaboration and sense of responsibility of all citizens.”

Councilor Arcuri took the opportunity to launch an appeal to the community: «If today separate waste collection in Catanzaro has reached 71%, it is due to the correct behavior of the vast majority of users. We know that more can be done and therefore I invite all citizens to separate waste more, avoiding incorrect waste disposal and respecting the timetable for domestic and commercial users”.

«The virtuous treatment of paper, plastic, glass and all recyclable materials – he concluded – is decisive for reducing taxes even further and ensuring that waste becomes a source of indirect profit». (rcz)
