The last official stage of the post-promotion celebrations in Serie A1 was reserved by the Board of Volley Talmassons Fvg for the Messaggero Veneto.

In January, coach Leonardo Barbieri and his girls were guests of the editorial team to talk about their journey and their ambitions.

On the occasion they talked about the Italian Cup, which then ended in the semi-final, and about the A2 promotion pool, the first stage towards conquering the A1 series which, at the time, was still very far away.

From that moment it was a crescendo of results and performances for the CDA, which first conquered the play-offs and then destroyed, in that order, the two battleships Messina and Busto Arsizio.

Cup and medals

Keeping the team and staff company, this time, was the cup won on Thursday on the Latisana pitch and the medals that the players (all present except those busy at school) proudly showed off.

The faces were a little tired from the tour de force in the gym but also from the celebrations, which took them, on Monday afternoon, to the headquarters of the Fvg Region to the president Massimiliano Fedriga and in the evening to the big dinner which brought together staff and volunteers in full force, the CDA athletes were available for videos, photos and a chat.

Friulian pride. «There is a lot of pride and enthusiasm is sky high – said CEO Fabrizio Cattelan, CEO of the main sponsor Board of Directors – and in recent days we have received great demonstrations of enthusiasm, beyond all expectations. Perhaps we still don’t even realize what we have achieved with a project born thirty years ago and grown piece by piece.

The girls were formidable, they worked with humility and with their heads down and the sponsors also supported us a lot and were repaid for their investment. Now – she continued – we will approach the A1 like a Cinderella, trying to make a dignified route: I would be happy to finish third – she jokes – but starting from the bottom. The A1 market is already practically concluded: we will do our best.”

When asked directly by the head of service Antonio Simeoli about promotion bonuses for female athletes, Cattelan did not hesitate: “I understand that the transfers have already started.”

The players

«Receiving so many compliments – commented vice-captain Alessia Populini – was a great honor: everyone is happy and us first. We have achieved a huge objective, each for itself but also for the territory.” Captain Beatrice Negretti looks to the future: «A journey is coming to an end and we will say goodbye with a bit of sadness. However, great things await us and the memory of what we have done will remain indelible.”

Greetings

This morning, for the girls who have achieved what has never been achieved before by a Friulian women’s team since the A1 and A2 existed, they will say goodbye: the majority will leave almost immediately for holidays after a short return home. Not without an eye on the market with a view to formalizing its destiny for the 2024-2025 season.
