The new Vis Pesaro sports center in Villa Fastiggi is not yet completed and is already becoming a national model. It doesn’t yet have an official name – Vpark, Pesarello or that of the expected sponsor – and it already belongs to the Pesaro identity. We start from here to understand the City Club project, illustrated yesterday in the city council chamber, with Vis partner of the Lega Pro. Theme: how cities can change sporting realities and vice versa.

Several case studies are under consideration: that of the Mapei stadium shared by two entities such as Reggio and Sassuolo (administrations of different colours) and the neroverde sports center which is the driving force of a thousand activities; that of Turin which alone with the ATP Finals has an impact of 300 million, that of Genoa which adds up 300,000 attendances with the Ocean Race or 16,000 overnight stays with the Subbuteo championships. And precisely Pesaro.

“It’s a project in which we believe a lot – said the president of Lega Pro Matteo Marani -. Here there is an important reality, an enlightened ownership – Mauro Bosco has a lot to teach many colleagues on the subject of plant engineering – a administration attentive to the theme of development and sport”.

Password: networking. Mandatory, in the other sense, for the first Vissina team soon to be involved in the playouts, and Mayor Ricci reminded the patron of the first mandatory task: saving the category.

Mandatory at administration and club level: “You don’t find presidents everywhere who decide to make private investments in local areas. Here we found a far-sighted company, which did a great job with the sports centre, we are committed to fixing up the stadium There is no coverage of the Prato sector, which will be the responsibility of my successor.”

“The center is almost ready, it is a dream come true and will remain the city’s heritage”, in the words of Guerrino Amadori. It will have two areas, according to the description of marketing manager Riccardo Del Bianco: a professional one (two 11-a-side football pitches, gym, medical wing, conference room, E-sports room, offices); and a public area (C5, paddle, bistro, play area).

“We are a conservative country – it’s Marani speaking again – but it’s one thing to conserve, another to stay behind. In Italy the systems are stuck in the twentieth century, and our stadiums have an average age of 60 years”.

Hence the need to network. “Because a football club is almost always the maximum sporting expression of the territory – words of Paolo Bedin, general director of Lega Pro – and has this ability to convey messages”.

Mauro Bosco, for his part, reiterated the guidelines: “A sports club is an integral part of the city fabric. Our policy starts from the bottom: structures, management, youth sector and finally the first team. Which for a few weeks will become the most important. That’s why Vis received a lot of good luck yesterday.”
