Police, debate in the council: “Too much haste”

The debate was heated yesterday in the municipal council of Castrocaro Terme and Terra del Sole. The subject of the dispute was the signing of the agreement with the Municipality of Forlì for the management of the local police service. As is known, from 1 July the spa administration will no longer use the management of the service in association with the Union of Municipalities. “With this reorganization our citizens will save, while the people of Forlì will not spend a single euro more – the words of the mayor Francesco Billi –. Castrocaro will pay the salaries of his agents and will correspond to Forlì the contribution (12,000 euros) for the bureaucratic part in a ‘economy of scale perspective’.

The tricolor band was keen to underline that “the agreement is not a re-proposal of the Union but an alternative model aimed at making the service more efficient” in a territory “already strongly integrated with that of the capital”. In recent days the hypothesis has also sparked debate in Forlì. “I have heard of political favors and various profiteering – continued Billi –. We only respond to the interest of one party: that of the citizens, according to an intelligent, broad and thoughtful administrative collaboration”. This was followed by thanks to the Forlì administration, “for having understood the urgency of the situation with seriousness and foresight”, and a jab at Graziano Rinaldini, political opponent of Gian Luca Zattini, who exposed himself “solely for electoral purposes on an issue he does not know “.

The vote against was expressed by Patrizia Campacci of the Democratic Party, who contested the lack of involvement of minorities in such a “delicate and important issue”. During the council meeting on 29 November you had in fact requested, without being listened to, the formation of a special commission. “We don’t like the management associated with Forlì, it is hasty, incomprehensible, vague, not effective in terms of safety”, declared Campacci, who also defined the choice as “a gross mistake” expressing doubts about “times and methods”. Fingers were also pointed at an agreement considered to be incomplete by Marianna Tonellato, leader of Together to grow. “We learned what we know from the council commission the other day in Forlì – thundered the former mayor –. An agreement that appears unclear”. Various questions raised. “For which services will Castrocaro pay the sum of 12,000 euros to Forlì?” and “which functions will be guaranteed with a staff of 3 policemen (or 4 with a seasonal one)? And again: “if Zattini is not re-elected in Forlì, will this agreement be made waste? If the other dissatisfied mayors, who are now silent for reasons of expediency, tomorrow make the same request in Forlì, will a second union be created?”. Closing with two more questions from the majority group leader Daniele Vallicelli: “The service of the Union was it valid? Is this agreement convenient for our Municipality?”. The choice to enter into an agreement was approved with the vote against by Campacci and the abstention of the three councilors of Insieme per Cresce (Tonellato, Minati, Piazza).
