ALBA – The Alba Roero Football Area is preparing for the first round of the playoffs, in which it will challenge the winner of Group A of Women’s Excellence, Alessandria Women, in a match that will certainly be complicated, but never impossible. The coach Massimo Russo spoke to Piemonte Sport to comment on the season between dreams and future projects.
“The playoffs were our objective right from the start, in fact: to be honest, we hoped we could do something more. The season, despite numerous injuries, was positive both in terms of play and in terms of group cohesion, demonstrating that we can compete even with the strongest teams. As said before, injuries affected us and we struggled, but we were always aware that we could do well.”
As anticipated, the playoff phase will begin tomorrow, and Russo’s team will host the grays at home for the first leg (Via C. del Piano – Mussotto d’Alba at 5.30 pm), “we are at the last stage of the season, so we will give our best to achieve our goal. The girls know who we are going to play against, Alessandria is a strong team, but they are very excited; we enter the field to win thinking about the next round, we’ll see later.
In conclusion, Coach Massimo Russo is already looking towards the next season: “in September we already laid the foundations for next year. I am very optimistic, as we will not only recover the injured ones, but we will also include girls from our academy (Under 17 and Under 15) in the squad; they are good girls who will fit into a cohesive and healthy context.
