Foggia, the Municipality mends the rift with the Network of technical professions:

“A high profile technical meeting with sharing of intentions and working methodologies, to trace the development of projects and synergies aimed at the urban and social regeneration of our city”.

This was stated by the mayor Maria Aida Episcopo and the councilor for Urban Planning and Public Works Giuseppe Galasso at the end of the meeting between the administration and the representatives of the Technical Professions Network, the network that brings together the professional orders and colleges of the area.

The Municipality of Foggia mends relations after the recent rift. Relaxed faces and smiles archive the resentful exchange of letters. Orders of architects, surveyors and engineers, geologists, industrial experts and forestry agronomists had complained, in fact, that they had never been summoned to address “important issues of a technical-urban planning nature starting with the Pug”. Then came the clearing.

Present were Giovanna Amedei, president of the Puglia Order of Geologists; Francesco Faccilongo, president of the architects’ association; Roberto Palmieri, president of the order of industrial experts; Stefano Torraco, president of the Order of Engineers; Antonio Troisi, president of the order of surveyors.

At the center of the discussion, the operational aspects to quickly achieve approval of regional law 36/2023, that on building redevelopment, further explored in light of the arguments already illustrated and debated during the public meeting held last April 16th in the auditorium Santa Chiara, and of the observations and suggestions that have been received in recent days in the e-mail specially prepared the day after the public meeting.

“We had the opportunity – explains Galasso – also to start discussing the many problems that concern the urban planning of the city of Foggia, starting from the main urban planning instrument, the Pug, up to touching on sector issues typical of some areas of the city, including the historic center and the famous horse’s head’, but also the Eighteenth-Century Quarters, the Artisans’ Village, the Railway Quarter and much more. The Municipality’s line of having to hypothesize specific and detailed urban planning tools for the recovery of individual areas that fit into a more general framework of urban planning that we are already addressing with the professor was also shared. Karrer within the PUG, who we had the opportunity to meet in recent days”.

Another aspect that emerged during the debate is the desire to “establish an urban center as soon as possible in order to activate a physical place in which to exercise a continuous level of participation aimed at close collaboration between the technical professions and the administration – with the involvement of the entire citizenry -. This will allow a real-time comparison on all the topics relating to the urban development of the city. We are grateful to the professional associations for the attention and availability reserved for us.”
