Maria Paola Coachman she was reconfirmed as president of council commission no. 3 dedicated to public works.

The re-election, which took place with the favorable vote of all the members of the majority present and the abstention of all the members of the minority (except the representative of the League Roberto Parraviciniwho actively participated in the discussion but disconnected at the time of the vote) came at the end of an extraordinary session of the commission held by the president pro tempore, the vice-president of the commission Helin Yildiz and before both the councilor for public works Andrea Civati and to the mayor Davide Galimberti.

And it was Andrea Civati, who spoke at the beginning of the commission, who changed the course of the discussion: «It seems right to me to reconstruct the failure to mention the request for a hearing of the avt representative, which was the subject of the forfeiture of president Cocchiere – explained Civati – I contacted the AVT managers and, faced with their difficulty in finding a free moment in the maximum 15 days necessary, I proposed that they tell me the main problems and I personally asked the main questions, so that I could report them. I therefore told them that their presence was not necessary, and I want to say this to protect the offices and councilor Cocchiere. After all, I think that I can be accused of everything except unavailability, given that in these two years I have answered over 40 questions, never shying away, and we have dealt with the rest of the Via Verdi car park extensively in the commission we organized on the place”.

There were several interventions, especially from the minority, which in some way revealed the underlying reasons for the blatant gesture of the request for revocation. For everyone we will report the intervention of Roberto Puricelli, which was also mentioned several times by the other councilors. «I have nothing personal against councilor Cocchiere, I can understand it was a mistake, but the regulation exists: it needs to be changed, but for now it is like this. We requested the forfeiture based on the provisions of the regulation. The truth is that we have never seen great openings, in fact, from the majority. You don’t accept any motions, some agendas but then they are ignored: We resorted to the regulations because we stick to the only thing we have: We have to stick to the mischief, in the end, because you don’t make us do anything else as a political activity.”

To speak beyond him too Salvatore Giordano (“What you have done is no small mistake”), Roberto Parravicini (who also wondered if it was possible for a minority councilor to convene a commission overnight like the one that re-elected the president) Franco Formato (“According to the regulation, listening to the parties is essential”) Domenico Esposito (“I’m fine with councilor Cocchiere being re-elected, but normal citizens are sanctioned if they make mistakes, but here everything goes back to how it was before”). He also entered the debate Luca Parisbelonging to the mixed group but attributable to the majority, who underlined that «Perhaps it is appropriate for the minority to use these tools with the necessary parsimony on the part of those who deal with public affairs».

The complaints were however “returned to the sender” by the mayor Davide Galimbertiwho decided to “supervise” the delicate commission: “everything that is happening is in accordance with the regulations: interpretation, revocation and possible reconfirmation are in accordance with the regulations” he specified.

The final result, after the declaration of the previous hours by the majority, was a foregone conclusion. But the newly re-elected Cocchiere was keen to thank those who voted for her: “I thank you for the trust that has been confirmed in me, in a sector like that of public works which is overloaded with things to do.”

Furthermore, he also reiterated his availability in a sort of manifesto of what he will do: «As president of the public works commission I have tried to always make myself available, going to the bottom, even in a concrete way, of the large public works that affect Varese. In recent years, during the public works commission, among the works we have analyzed are the construction sites of Villa Baragiola, the castle of Belforte, Largo Flaiano, the sports hall and the Garibaldi barracks. I have always tried to do my best to find innovative solutions that meet everyone’s needs; I am thinking, for example, of the “worksite commissions” made to help commissioners and citizens understand and see for themselves the progress of the works. I will continue to have the same availability that I have always shown in the future: always trying, where possible, to satisfy their requests.”
