For urban waste, Veneto has already exceeded the 2025 objectives

Once again the Veneto demonstrates all its virtuosity in terms of waste”: in 2023, as the Arpav data say, “the residual urban waste delivered to the disposal plants in our Region amounted to a total of 587,000 tonnes”, announces the councilor Environment of Veneto underlining how this is a truly important piece of data: “A result that exceeds the objectives two years ahead of the program envisaged by the update of the Regional Waste Management Plan”.

In reference to what the Plan envisages, i.e. the elimination of landfill disposal of urban waste before 2030, the objectives set included disposal of 649,000 tonnes in 2023, 633,000 in 2024, 604,000 in 2025. “Thanks to great awareness on the subject, but also to the formidable commitment of all Venetian citizens in separate waste collection – highlights the councilor – we will record an already better result in 2023 than the one hypothesized for 2025, given that it shows how well we are on track to reach all the ambitious objectives of the Plan and even exceed them”.

In last week’s council, Bottacin brought about the approval of the criteria for the application of the single tariff for the transfer of residual urban waste to disposal plants. And this is “a further element that will allow us to guarantee uniform costs for all citizens for the delivery of waste to treatment plants. Another important objective of the plan which is approaching and will be applied as early as 2025, confirming once again the national leadership of the Veneto in the field”.
