In these five years the Lettuce Council did not finish any of the announced projects, Enzo Lattuca was not the mayor of all but the far-left mayor and failed spectacularly on the house plan. This, in a nutshell, is the balance sheet of the last five years of Cesena centre-left administration according to League of Cesena who this morning at a press conference at Caffè Barriera presented the list’s candidacy for its elections, in support of the centre-right candidate Marco Casali.

They were present for the occasion the Honorable Jacopo Morrone, president of the Ecomafie Commission, the city councilors Fabio Biguzzi, deputy group leader in the City Council and councilor of the Cesena Valle Savio Union, the lawyer Enrico Sirotti Gaudenzipresident of the first Commission e Antonella Celletti, leader of the League. Also present Beatrice Baratelli, municipal councilor.

“In these five years we have worked hard – he began Fabio Biguzzi – ensuring presence in all City Councils, in 300 commissions, with over 170 questions presented, 20 motions as well as agendas, requests for access to documents on issues that affect the life of the city, collecting reports from citizens, drawing inspiration from press articles. We believe we have done our job as best as we can and I challenge you to find another group that has worked as hard as us.”

Then the lunge towards the Lettuce Council. “Cesena is certainly a beautiful city where people live well but in the last 20 years we have seen a deterioration. We can do better and live better in our beloved city, we have said this in various places and our criticism was in itself already a proposal which, however, was never listened to. Even approved amendments or motions were then disregarded. The Lettuce Council has lived on announcements and slogans, sick with ‘chronic announcements’.”

“Among the examples, the Novello project (where a complex is located to accommodate social and popular housing, ed) – added Biguzzi -. It has been talked about since 2006 as the cornerstone to solving the problem home, then completely disappeared from the programs of the Cesena to come. The same happened for the new hospital or for the solidarity store which was supposed to be a pharaonic project and ended up being three shelves at the fruit and vegetable market. Then it could have been done already in 2019, the idea was also part of the center-right’s programs.”

“Let’s come to Pums – Fabio Biguzzi then pointed the finger -. The push green extreme is not sustainable. If other “thirty zones” are needed, we are welcome, we are not against it, but the Sustainable Mobility Plan does not take into account daily needs. The citizen must be able to choose to travel by car and park…”. The analysis of the Northern League councilor also concerned the management of waste. For Fabio Biguzzi on this front there has been a worsening of the conditions of the neighborhoods, with the abandonment of waste and no savings on the bill. “Separate waste collection must adapt to the type of user and location. It is not green send a collection truck to Formignano, Tissello or Diolaguardia two, three times a week….In our opinion, it is not the citizens who should be at Hera’s service but the opposite.”

So the word got out to the lawyer Sirotti Gaudenzi. “There have been five years of difficult relations with the council, there has been a lot of propaganda and a lot of distance, the Lattuca council has not finished even one project. Not the house of music, not the Cesuola, not the new hospital or the archaeological museum or the Roverella project which seems to have changed its purpose, or the municipal swimming pool which has been undersized and is no longer an Olympic swimming pool”. There was no shortage of notes on the topic safety and development of the historic center. Cesena, according to councilor Sirotti Gaudenzi “is not attractive for tourism or even for commerce. To be attractive, the center must be frequented every day, the strategic plan has been abandoned, nothing about parking, nothing about the tourist city. On parking of the Sacred Heart the agreements are onerous for the Municipality, the rates for citizens are not known and the parking spaces are only 60”. Sirotti Gaudenzi’s attack therefore concerned the relationships between Cesena and the surrounding cities, in particular Forlìkept at a distance “out of ideological hatred, thus forgetting that the airport could also give breathing space to the Cesena economy and tourism”.

About the safety, according to Sirotti Gaudenzi, widespread petty crime has been underestimated and not contained, which has also manifested itself near the municipal house, with episodes of drug dealing, baby gangs… We have always made constructive proposals. Cesena is not Milan but security policies are not of interest to the Democratic Party which has relied on Ciacare and to street educators…”.

“Even the house plan – concluded the lawyer – he is a great absentee… one of the glaring failures of the administration. The urban planning of Novello, with the social housingdue to design errors and increases in raw material prices, is at a standstill as is the Peep of Sant’Egidio which has 30 accommodations ready”.

At the end of the intervention of the Honorable Morrone who thanked the Cesena staff of the League, immediately placing emphasis on the failure of the Council to dialogue with the opposition. “My experience as president of a bicameral commission of inquiry teaches me that elsewhere the suggestions come from the majority and the minority and they work differently” said Morrone. “We saw the culmination of this attitude on 25 April, a day for everyone but transformed into a political rally, bordering on legality. The opposition has gone away as a signal.”

Lettuce President of the Province according to Jacopo Morrone it was “non-existent. We saw him in the days of the flood when he was on TV but not among the flood victims. In recent years Enzo Lattuca has not been the mayor of everyone but the mayor of the far left”.

“We hope to win with Marco Casali – Jacopo Morrone then stated – a smart person, prepared and ready to be mayor, chosen by Alice Buonguerrieri and whom we will support. Casali will be everyone’s mayor. I remember that five years ago I appointed a person who brought Cesena to the runoff.”

“We need collaboration – Morrone added –. If there are problems, they must be discussed with everyone, in a climate of common debate, but this cannot happen for a mayor who has to campaign and who perhaps aspires to become regional president. The fight for Cesena capital, what will it actually bring? I would be more interested in the dialogue with neighboring municipalities such as Forlì or collaboration with the airport. As well as from Cesena the people of Forlì could enjoy the beauty of the racecourse or Cesena Calcio. It would be desirable to shorten the distances between Forlì and Cesena, but dialogue has never been found. A mayor who was also president of the Province and of the Union, one and three, could find the collaboration of other mayors. The result was the lack and administrative slowness, due to too many tasks.”

Finally the announcement of a return to Cesena for the presentation of Northern League candidate for the European elections, who will be a woman, from Romagna.

Then asked about the quantification of the League’s weight in the Cesena breakfast, Morrone said “we are interested in the centre-right team, we would certainly like to reach a useful number to be the opposition in the City Council. I remember five years ago in Forlì I indicated the candidate Gianluca Zattini who won in the first round. Today they point me to Casali. I hope that Casali can win. We already broke down the wall of the ballot in Cesena with a lot of hard work five years ago”.

On the wide field and the adhesion of the Five Star Movement and the Republican party to the center left affirmed “there are values that make you support coalitions in a natural way. But when you try to go into government not because you have something to say or are ready, but to have a seat, voters understand this at the polls. I go back to remembering Forlì where the League was the driving force behind the victory in the first round.”

From Antonella Celletti the last one appeal to go to the polls on 8 and 9 June. “We vote on Saturday and Sunday, I invite citizens to vote, your vote is worth one, like anyone else’s vote and for this reason it has great value”.
