PAVIA – As the European elections of 8 and 9 JuneThe university students from Paviascattered across universities beyond the borders of their city of origin, find themselves faced with a crucial task: secure the right to vote. But the path is not as direct as a straight line on the exam paper.
University students from Pavia, enrolled at universities outside their city of residence, have a period of up to May 5th to secure their right to vote in the next European elections. The The Municipality of Pavia has prepared specific forms for requesting admission to votewhich must be sent, within the indicated deadline, to the PEC email address [email protected] or to the mailbox [email protected], specifying in the subject “Vote for students away from home in Italy ”.
After receiving the requests, the municipal administration of Pavia has until May 20th to verify the requirements and communicate to the municipality of temporary residence the documents necessary for registration on the electoral lists. By June 4th, off-site student voters will receive a certificate of admission to vote, containing the number and address of the section where they will have to exercise their right to vote. This certificate must be shown at the assigned polling station.
It should be underlined that a different voting procedure has been defined based on the student’s domicile. In the event that the student has moved to the same electoral constituency as the municipality of residence, he will be able to vote in the ordinary sections of the municipality of temporary domicile, using the lists and candidates running in that constituency. Otherwise, if the student lives in a constituency other than his own, he will only be able to vote in the capital of the Region of domicile, expressing his preference for the lists and candidates running in the constituency of residence.
