L’AQUILA – “We can state that the accounts of the Municipality of L’Aquila are in order and healthy. After approving the budget forecast in December in record time, yesterday’s green light for the 2023 report shows a record surplus of over 23 million, 4 million more than last year, and this makes us look to the future with serenity”.
This is what he explains in the interview with Abruzzoweb, Livio Vittorinipresident of the Budget commission at the Municipality of L’Aquila, and head of the regional Economy and Finance department of Fratelli d’Italia, following the Council meeting which approved the final report for last year, with 19 votes in favor represented by the councilors of Fdi, L’Aquila Futura, Forza Italia, Civici and Indipendenti for Biondi mayor, Udc and Lega, and 9 against with Pd, L’Aquila Coraggiosa, L’Aquila Nuova and Il Passopossibile.
Even more in detail, explains Vittorini, “of the budget surplus, 17 million will be tied up, in a prudential way, also for any unforeseen events, 6 million can be used for investments, and already 4 million euros, thanks to an amendment by the mayor Pierluigi Biondi, they will be used for the purchase and replacement of the four load-bearing cables of the cable car, which today represents an absolute priority, and there is a need to squeeze in as much time as possible”.
Vittorini also recalls that thanks to the centre-right government of the country, the Abruzzo region and the municipality of L’Aquila, “from now on we will have 10 million euros a year for the increased expenses and lower revenues due to the earthquake of 2009. And this will give us further security and solidity.”
As regards the high management and maintenance costs of the post-earthquake neighborhoods of the Case Project, continues Vittorini, “we have started as never before been done, a refunctionalization and partial demolition work to reduce maintenance and management costs which are considerable . With the tender already started for the construction of the National Center for Universal Civil Service, for example, plates will be demolished in Cese di Preturo, Bazzano and the Sant’Antonio district. The Case di Sassa project will be partly used for the barracks of the National Fire Brigade School”.
Finally, Vittorini recalls: “in these seven years we have also carried out another important work, that of cleaning up the balance sheet, that is, eliminating credits that are no longer collectible and now we have not only a healthy balance sheet, but above all a truthful one”.
