Among the leaders of the centre-left, no one is saying anything about who will be the centre-left candidate for mayor in the Aversa municipal elections. What transpires is that today could be the decisive day for the name of the coalition leader to be made official. As anticipated yesterday by Italia Notizie there are two options on the table: a civic one, personified by Mauro Baldascino, the other political, represented by the five-star member Filippo Panza. There are no vetoes or hesitations about the names, both considered high profile. The discussion runs along the lines of the connotation that the helmsman of the center-left must have. Baldascino, Libera’s representative, has a long commitment to associations and active citizenship. In the 90s he embraced the Insieme per Aversa project with the then mayor Lello Ferrara. For his part, Panza, marshal of the Fiamme Gialle, is a historic militant of the 5 Star Movement, highly appreciated in the party, rooted in the territory and always in the front row in the battles for the relaunch of Aversa. In short, two names up to the task of leading the field in an electoral competition that seems uphill but which is certainly still up for grabs.

Mauro Baldascino

Who will be the chosen one? Baldascino is favored because it is the name that came out a week ago on which all the members of the coalition found, with different nuances, a convergence. He would also have had the consecration of the regional commissioner of the dem Antonio Misiani. But he doesn’t convince the entire Aversa Democratic Party. The outgoing administrators, until now rebellious because they were aiming for the former mayor Marco Villano, are leaning towards a political candidate. Panza would be the best choice to establish the agreement between the dem and the pentastellati. Although with many reservations, La Politica che Serve has instead invested in Baldascino. It is no coincidence that in the next few hours the request from the outgoing mayor Alfonso Golia’s group will arrive on the table to make his name official and to evaluate the centre-left lists, which until now have remained in drawers. If everyone were to converge on Panza, will La Politica che Serve also give the green light? It is not obvious because there is a suspicion that Baldascino could be “set aside” to give a sop to the former dem administrators, close to the deputy Stefano Graziano. Gennaro Oliviero would also like to lock down Libera’s contact person. Not so much because he believes in Baldascino but to put Graziano and his boys in difficulty. As always in the Democratic Party the story is always the same. All against all.
